MANCHESTER, N.H. – While it wouldn’t be a gigantic blowout like the later men’s contest, Southern New Hampshire University began Saturday night with a positive step on the hardwood, defeating Stonehill 67-62 in women’s basketball action.

The two teams battled early until the Penmen pulled away thanks to eight combined points from sophomore Sarah Deyo (Attleboro, Mass.) and junior Karlee Ziliak (Evansville, Ind.), giving SNHU a lead that reduced, but not eliminated, throughout the rest of the contest.

Ziliak led all scorers with a career-high 16 points with four baskets from beyond the arc, leading four Penmen in double figures on the night.

SNHU has now won five of its last six and will seek to build on that streak on Wednesday, eb. 13 (5:30 p.m.) against Bentley University.
