Woman robbed by man in Halloween mask
A woman was robbed by a man in a Halloween mask who tussled with her companion before fleeing near Central Street.
Just after midnight on Nov. 5, a woman, 21, of Hampton, was leaving a residence at 245 Laurel St. with a male companion who was walking her to her car when an man, wearing a red Halloween mask, demanded her valuables.
The woman told police she at first thought it was a prank, since the robber was wearing a Halloween mask, and she continued walking toward her car. As she turned back, she realized her friend was engaged in a physical altercation with the robber, and so she ran toward her car and called 911.
Moments later, as the altercation ended, her male friend ran as the robber grabbed her backpack, causing the strap to rip.
Not to be deterred, the woman chased after the robber, but lost sight of him as he ran between two houses toward Central Street.
The robber is described as 5-foot-8, thin build, gravelly voice and was last seen wearing a black pullover sweat shirt, dark pants while holding an unknown black object in his hand. The woman could not confirm what the item was, and stated she was never threatened with the unknown object.
Her backpack, described as a tan leather American-Eagle back pack, contained personal items, including such a license, Social Security card and almost $300 in cash.
