Woman leads police in low-speed chase, nabbed by police dog after fleeing on foot

MANCHESTER, NH – Jasmine Funkhouser, 24, of Manchester, was arrested Friday morning following a brief low-speed chase with police that started after she drove through a stop sign, then fled from police at a high rate of speed.

At about 3:55 a.m. Officer Dan Golia was traveling north on Maple Street at Concord Street when he observed a 2004 Honda Civic fail to stop for the posted stop sign. Officer Golia had to slam on his brakes to avoid a collision. Golia called in the registration of the vehicle and activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

Instead of stopping, Funkhouser accelerated.

Officer Golia observed the Honda head south on Beech Street at Hanover Street where Funkhouser failed to negotiate the turn and instead struck the curb in front of McHugh’s Funeral Home, 283 Hanover Street.

Funkhouser continued to travel south on Beech Street prior to turning on to Manchester Street, blowing through several more stop signs during the low-speed pursuit.

The pursuit was cancelled by Golia in the area of Lincoln and Manchester streets when the Honda began accelerating at a dangerous speed. He lost sight of the vehicle, which was located a few minutes later near 768 Amherst Street.

Sgt. Al Aldenberg observed Funkhouser get out of the vehicle and flee on foot. She was tracked down by Officer Rob Megowen and his police dog partner Link. Funkhouser was taken into custody and charged with: disobeying a police officer, reckless operation and resisting arrest.
