Wintry weather Monday shouldn’t stop you from voting Tuesday
Snow is coming Monday and my snarl your evening commute, but shouldn’t impede your travel to the polls Tuesday. See the Secretary of State’s voter turn-out prediction.
MANCHESTER, NH – More wintry weather is on the horizon, according to the Weather Underground, with up to five inches falling here in Manchester by Tuesday morning.
That said, a little pre-Primary snow shouldn’t be enough to keep anyone away from what Secretary of State Bill Gardner expects to be a turn-out of historic proportions. On February 5 Gardner announced his turnout prediction for the 2016 Presidential Primary Election as follows:
Republican Ballots Cast: 282,000; Democratic Ballots Cast: 268,000. The number of registered voters as of Feb. 5: 231,376 Democrats; 262,111 Republicans; 389,472 Undeclared; Total 882,959.
Back to the weather: The following Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 a.m. Feb. 8 through 6 a.m. Feb. 9 for Eastern Hillsborough County:
*Snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches.
* Timing: Snow begins Monday morning and continues into Monday night. Light snow may continue into Tuesday but the bulk of the accumulation will be over by Tuesday morning.
* Impacts: Roads will become snow covered and slippery. Strong winds will cause blowing and drifting snow and could lead to low visibility in spots.
* Winds: North 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
* Temperatures: in the lower 20s.
Precautionary/preparedness actions: A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.
