SNHU takes two of three volleyball contests over the weekend

It’s September 24, 2019. Here’s what’s been going on lately with Southern New Hampshire University sports.

Women’s Volleyball

Outside of a three-set loss to Millersville, the women’s volleyball team was perfect for the weekend, recording three-set wins against Dominican (N.Y.) and Roberts Wesleyan.

Senior Irem Bat (Istanbul, Turkey) had 23 kills and 19 digs over the three contests, with senior Baylee Lippincott (Phoenix, Ariz.) also contributing 15 kills over the weekend.

The Penmen are back in action Thursday, Sept. 26 (7 p.m.) when they take on Bentley University.

Women’s Golf

The Penmen finished third out of eight programs at a two-day meet in Keene over the weekend.

Individually, sophomore Hannah May (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Penmen with an opening-round 77 and then an 80-stroke day on Monday, tied for sixth overall out of 52 total golfers.

The Penmen return to action Monday, Oct. 1 when they host the Penmen Fall Invitational at Lake Sunapee Country Club in New London, N.H.

Women’s Tennis

Freshman Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) and freshman Magdalona Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) took the Penmen’s only singles victories on Sunday, with SNHU falling 5-2 to Adelphi.

Andrade won 6-4, 6-1 and also won her doubles match with sophomore Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.). Hubickova won her singles march, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The next home match for SNHU is Saturday, Sept. 28 (1 p.m.) when it plays host to Franklin Pierce University.
