Shooting Incident May Involve ‘Rival Groups’

Officer Ryan Boynton arrived at the intersection when heard at least two gunshots and observed a number of people fleeing in different directions on foot, according to a Manchester Police press release.

A witness told police he saw two men, one of whom allegedly discharged a handgun. He described the gunman as a Hispanic male wearing a grey shirt who was last seen running easterly on Spruce Street with another man, described only as a Hispanic male.

Police recovered two .22 caliber shell casings in the roadway, but officers on scene were unable to locate any individuals directly involved in the incident. However, at about 1:30 a.m., Manchester Police did respond to the Elliot Hospital emergency room where they met with a 17-year-old male who had sustained an apparent gunshot
wound to his lower leg. The wound is not considered life-threatening.

The victim has been uncooperative with police, but investigators do believe he sustained the wound as a result of the aforementioned incident.

Police continue to investigate this most recent incident and have developed information that indicates it could be related to an ongoing dispute between rival
groups in our community.
