She’s in: Mayor Joyce Craig announces re-election campaign
Mayor Joyce Craig on Thursday announced her re-election campaign for Mayor of Manchester.

MANCHESTER, NH — Mayor Joyce Craig on Thursday announced her re-election campaign for Mayor of Manchester. Since taking the oath of office as Mayor of Manchester just over 15-months ago, Mayor Craig has worked hard to empower residents across our city to think big, confront our challenges and engage with our community.
“I’m proud that we’re making a real difference in helping our residents lead better lives, with stronger schools, a healthier and safer community, good jobs and a growing economy, all while protecting our city’s bottom line and respecting the tax cap,” said Mayor Craig. “Manchester is on the move, and there’s a spirit and energy you can feel across our great city as people are stepping forward and working together–including businesses, non-profits, and residents–to address the challenges we face. I’m running for mayor in 2019 because this spirit of non-partisan, common sense problem-solving is delivering results that make our city stronger.”
Born and raised in Manchester, Mayor Craig strives to continue the city’s progress as a statewide leader in economic development. Mayor Craig is committed to tackling the city’s challenges head-on through collaboration with local residents, businesses and non-profit organizations.
As the city’s 48th mayor and the first woman to be elected to Manchester’s highest office, Mayor Craig has addressed some of Manchester’s most pressing challenges and delivered on the promises she made to voters. In her first term, she has:
- Grown Manchester’s economy through innovative partnerships that bring new jobs and opportunities, including working with the state to develop a comprehensive proposal that resulted in BAE Systems coming to Manchester, along with up to 800 new, high-paying jobs.
- Prioritized improving public education to attract and keep families and businesses in Manchester, including working with the NH College and University Council to secure more than $10.5 million to the school district over the next seven years through the competitive GEAR UP grant.
- Made our neighborhoods safer by combating the substance use disorder crisis and addressing crime, resulting in a 19% decrease in opioid overdoses and an overall decrease in crime, including a 9% decrease in violent crime.
- Made smart financial decisions that reflect our priorities while protecting Manchester residents’ hard-earned tax dollars.
Mayor Craig will host an official campaign kick-off event on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the SNHU Sandbox Collaborative, 1230 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03101 and will be free and open to the public. Guests are asked to RSVP online at bit.ly/MayorCraigKickOffEvent.
