Route 101 crash snarls eastbound traffic after driver flips car

CANDIA, NH – A driver escaped serious injury when his car flipped onto its roof on Route 101 Tuesday.

At approximately 2:55 p.m. State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 101 East in Candia.  Responding Troopers found a 2007 Mazda G6, operated by Goffstown man, 78, involved resting on its roof in the area of mile marker 109. The left lane of Route 101 East was shut-down while emergency personnel cared for those involved and worked to clear the roadway.

For reasons still under investigation, the Mazda left the paved portion of the roadway and continued into the center median.  The momentum of the vehicle and the shape of the roadway forced the vehicle to roll over and come to rest on its roof. The vehicle sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was transported to the Elliot Hospital where it was confirmed that he did not suffer any serious injuries.

At-scene Troopers were assisted by the Candia Police Department, Candia Fire and Rescue, and American Medical Response.  Should anyone have further information related to this crash, they are asked to contact TFC Brian Gacek, via email, at brian.gacek@dos.nh.gov.
