Brazen daytime robber sought after nabbing a purse from a grandmother on Wilson Street.

Robber wrestles purse from 83-year-old grandmom, is chased off by granddaughter, 10

MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police responded to a Wilson Street address at 1:25 p.m. on April 23 for an unarmed robbery involving an elderly woman and her granddaughter, 10. The woman parked her car in the Wilson Street driveway when a stranger ran up to her and forcefully tried to grab her purse, containing cash, credit cards and bank information.

The woman struggled with the robber over her purse, but the robber overpowered her and took the purse before fleeing on foot toward a bicycle. The robber mounted the bicycle but fell off as the woman’s granddaughter ran after him. The robber abandoned the bicycle and continued to flee on foot toward Spruce Street from the 400 block of Wilson Street.

The robber was described as a black male, last seen wearing a gray or black coat, black pants, black shoes with white trim and a black flat-brimmed hat.

Anyone with information should contact the Manchester Police Detective Division at 603-792-5500 (reference Case # 18- 5909) or via Manchester Crimeline at 603-624-4040. A cash reward will be offered for tips leading to the identification and arrest of the person responsible for this incident.
