Road rage: Police say man pointed loaded gun at motorist on I-293
Police found two loaded handguns in Peter Benson’s truck following a reported road rage incident on Friday.


MANCHESTER, NH – State Police arrested a Contoocook man on Jan. 16 following an alleged road rage incident involving a loaded handgun on I-293.
According to a police narrative, on Friday at about 8:15 a.m. state police from Troop B responded to a 911 call on Route 293 south in Manchester. The 911 caller advised that he was involved in a road rage incident and the other motorist, later identified as, Peter Benson, 48 of Contoocook, was operating a Gray Ford F-150 and pointed a hand gun at him.
Trooper Mark Suttmeier was working a construction detail in the area of Exit 4 when he observed Benson’s truck pass him traveling southbound on 293. He followed the vehicle for a short distance and with the assistance of other Troopers initiated a motor vehicle stop. A subsequent search of Benson’s truck located two loaded hand guns. Benson was arrested for reckless conduct and criminal threatening.
