April 29: Brookside Church to celebrate formal Installation of Rev. Eric Jackson
A reception will be held immediately following in the church Fellowship Hall. The service is open to the public. Clergy guests are invited to wear a robe and red stole and participate in the processional of the service.
MANCHESTER, NH – Brookside Congregational Church will celebrate the installation of The Rev. Eric Jackson at a special service on
Sunday April 29 at 3 p.m. at the church located at 2013 Elm Street in the North End.
The Rev. Eric Jackson
has been serving as the senior pastor of the church since April 4, 2017.The formal installation service is a long-standing tradition for new pastors in the United Church of Christ (UCC) that includes special music, inspiring words and exhortations. A reception will be held immediately following in the church Fellowship Hall. The service is open to the public. Clergy guests are invited to wear a robe and red stole and participate in the processional of the service.
According to the denomination’s procedures, the regional body of the United Church of Christ (UCC) must affirm the settled ministry. The Hillsborough County Association of clergy will formally install Rev. Jackson as the ordained pastor of Brookside Church.

Eric Jackson, senior pastor at Brookside Congregational Church. “The covenant is not only between the pastor and congregation, but also with the Hillsborough Association, and the New Hampshire Conference, that serves as the umbrella for the Associations across the state.”
Rev. Jackson succeededRev. Dr. Marlayna Schmidt who was serving as interim pastor after the Rev. Dawn Berry retired after 7 years of service on December 31, 2015.
Prior to joining Brookside Church, Rev. Jackson served for nearly three years as pastor of Smith Memorial Church, United Church of Christ in Hillsborough, NH. Prior to that, he served for three years as community minister at Judson Memorial Church in New York City. While in this position, he was introduced to the United Church of Christ denomination and found a spiritual home within it because of its commitment to theological diversity, democratic church governance, and social change. He began his ministry as the associate pastor of First Calvary Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY, where he served for six years.
Rev. Jackson currently serves on the Annual Meeting Planning Committee of The New Hampshire Conference of the United Church of Christ and the Executive Committee of the Hillsborough Association. He also currently serves as president of the Greater Manchester NAACP and has been a member since 2014.
Rev. Jackson holds a Master of Divinity from the Theological School of Drew University based in Madison, NJ. He is currently earning a Doctor of Ministry at Hartford Seminary of Hartford, CT.
