MANCHESTER, NH – Police are looking for a man who made off with a woman’s purse over the weekend after a brief encounter at the Mall of New Hampshire.
Manchester Police responded to the Mall of New Hampshire at 6:45 p.m. on January 2 for theft call. Officer Brian Fleming responded to the scene and spoke with the victim, a 48-year-old woman.
The woman stated she was seated on an outside bench located on the north side of the mall when a young white male she was not previously acquainted with approached her and engaged her in a brief conversation. He sat next to her, so she offered him a cigarette, the woman told police. She said she then looked away for a brief moment at which time the man removed her purse from the bench and fled the area.
The purse-snatcher was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, a black zippered hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and unknown colored sneakers. She described him as being approximately 18 to 25 years of age, but could not describe his build. She said he ran toward the highway with her black purse, which contained a credit card, keys and identification. The black purse also had black handles and a zippered top.
