UPDATE, July 10, 9:45 a.m. – Police are reporting that the woman was 42 years old and was shot in her doorway as she was leaving for work on Tuesday.

She told police she saw a tall, dark-skinned black man she did not recognize holding a gun and another male running away. It did not appear that the woman was their intended target.

Police later found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his face on West Mitchell Street. Through their investigation, detectives determined the wound was related to the Ahern Street incident. The 17-year-old was found to be a missing person from New York and was taken into custody while waiting for a family member to pick him up.

The injuries to both victims were non-life threatening, and the identity of the shooter is still unknown.
