Police investigate possible link to late night gunshots, West Side armed robbery of cabbie
Less than one hour later, police responded to the area of Varney and Warner streets to speak with the victim of an armed robbery. The 34-year old female cab driver stated she had picked up three young white males in the area of Wilkins Street.
MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police responded to a West Side neighborhood on December 10, 2014 at 10:40 p.m. for multiple reports of gunshots heard in the area. The officers on scene spoke with witnesses in the vicinity of Hamburg Street and determined three or four men fled the area immediately after the witnesses heard four “gunshots.”
Police on patrol checked the area with no results. Less than one hour later, police responded to the area of Varney and Warner streets to speak with the victim of an armed robbery. The 34-year old female cab driver stated she had picked up three young white males in the area of Wilkins Street.
She stated the front seat passenger allegedly displayed a handgun while demanding cash. She relinquished her cash and watched as the three young men fled on foot. She gave the following description of the man seated in the front seat. He was described as a 19 or 20-year old white male, thin build, and last seen wearing red gloves, red hooded sweatshirt with black horizontal stripes and red back pack. He was the person who displayed the black semi-automatic handgun during the course of the robbery. She was unable to provide a description of the two back seat passengers, other than confirming they were white males.
Manchester Police detectives are following up on both incidents. It is unknown if both incidents are related and no suspect information is available at this time.
