Police find couple using heroin in Rite Aid parking lot, 5-month-old baby in backseat
Police say a couple with a baby in the backseat of their parked car were in the process of shooting heroin when an officer noticed them and intervened.
MANCHESTER, NH — Police say a couple with a baby in the backseat of their parked car were in the process of shooting heroin when an officer noticed them Thursday evening and intervened.
Haley Gadwah, 23, of Penacook, and Robert Rainville, 28, of Lebanon, were both charged with heroin possession and child endangerment, according to the following police narrative.
On Dec. 10 at approximately 7:25 p.m., Special Enforcement Division Detectives observed a male and female parked in the southeast corner of the Rite Aid parking lot, 1631 Elm St. Police were drawn to the couple after they noticed the male driver, later identified as Rainville, holding a cigarette lighter and beverage cap, and then using a syringe, all indications of drug activity, while the female, later identified as Gadwah, acted as a lookout, police said.
Detectives approached the vehicle and made contact first with Rainville, which is when they discovered a baby in the backseat of the car.
Rainville was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug (heroin); falsifying physical evidence; and endangering the welfare of a child. Rainville was to scheduled for arraignment in the 9th Circuit Court Manchester on Dec. 11, 2015.
Gadwah was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug (heroin) and endangering the welfare of a child, and was also scheduled for arraignment Dec. 11.
Gadwah’s 5-month-old child was placed into protective custody.
