Police cruiser involved in accident responding to accident involving police cruiser
Two accidents involving police cruisers Monday morning are under investigation. The second accident happened when police were responding to the first accident.
MANCHESTER, NH – Police are investigating two separate accidents involving police cruisers that happened Oct. 27.
The first accident happened just around 9 a.m. at Webster and Maple streets when a Manchester Police cruiser headed north on Maple Street was struck by a vehicle heading west on Webster Street, which failed to stop at the light. That vehicle struck the front of the cruiser, knocking down a sign, and going across a lawn and through a fence before coming to rest in in the back of that property. No one was transported to the hospital but both officers in the cruiser were reportedly shaken up.
Both vehicles had to be towed.
The second accident occurred a few minutes later when a cruiser was headed north on Maple Street responding to the first cruiser accident. A collision occurred at the intersection of Maple and Valley streets involving a new SUV police cruiser and a minivan, which was headed east on Valley Street. The cruiser was drivable, but the van had to be towed.
No one was transported to the hospital from the scene.
Both accidents remain under investigation.
