Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium Acquires Cate and Johnson Funeral Home

MANCHESTER, NHPhaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, one of the oldest family-run funeral homes in New Hampshire, announced that it has acquired Cate and Johnson Funeral Home, an independently owned, family-run funeral home serving the Greater Manchester, NH area for close to 100 years. The purchase will help to expand Phaneuf’s reach to families in the region.

Both Phaneuf and Cate and Johnson, as family-owned and operated businesses, have close-knit ties and connections to the communities they serve. The purchase of Cate and Johnson fits into Phaneuf’s goal to continue to offer caring, compassionate services for both the deceased and their loved ones during a difficult and trying time. All Cate and Johnson pre-arranged services will be honored and held at the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium locations.

“If families have questions about their existing arrangements with Cate and Johnson, I encourage them to call me personally,” said Arthur “Buddy” Phaneuf, President and CEO, Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium. “In addition, all Cate and Johnson website obituaries will be preserved onto the Phaneuf site as we thought this would be important to Cate and Johnson families.”

Mark Johnson, owner and operator of Cate and Johnson Funeral Home knew it was a good time to consider a transition when he found buyers for both the building and the business, as well as a way to continue his passion for serving families. “When a young couple became interested in our property on Pine Street in Manchester to develop for residential and professional use, we saw it as a win-win opportunity,” Johnson said. “Our merge with Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium allows us the privilege of continuing to provide our services to families in our community,” he continued.

“It is a privilege and an honor to welcome the Cate and Johnson Funeral Home as a new member of the Phaneuf family,” said Buddy Phaneuf. “Like Phaneuf, Cate and Johnson has provided a similar level of quality and care, as we have, for close to a century. With Mark joining Phaneuf as funeral director, his many years of experience and deep ties to the community will help expand our service to those in our area.”
