Women’s Soccer
The eighth ranked Penmen couldn’t stay undefeated, with a 4-0 road loss to Adelphi on Saturday.
Junior Alexsis Weiser (Long Beach, Calif) scored the game’s first two goals, Senior Erica Bleimeyer (Levittown, N.Y.) and sophomore Jacqueline Diffley (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored the game’s other goals for Adelphi.
SNHU managed just one shot on goal, while Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Rose (Waterloo, Ontario) made six saves for SNHU.
The Penmen (2-0-1) return to action Wednesday, Sept. 18 (7 p.m.) when they play host to Saint Michael’s College at Penmen Stadium.
Women’s Golf
Sophomore Hannah May (Phoenix, Ariz) shot a 75 on Sunday to lead the Penmen to a second-place finish at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational in upstate New York this weekend.
Individually, May finished seventh overall with a 161 for the tournament. Freshman Gabby Thomas (Charlton, Mass.) couldn’t duplicate her even-par day on Saturday, but still ended with a total of 152 strokes for a third-place tournament finish.
The Le Moyne College Fall Invitational was comprised of 44 golfers from seven institutions. SNHU returns to action Sept. 22-23 when they compete at the Franklin Pierce Invitational at the Keene (N.H.) Country Club.
Women’s Volleyball
A five-game victory over Valdosta State prevented SNHU from leaving a weekend In Florida without a win.
The Penmen pulled out a 21-25, 25-18, 25-14, 23-25, 15-9 victory against VSU, before 22nd-ranked Wayne (Neb.) State College rolled, 25-17, 25-11, 25-9 in the second match.
On Saturday, SNHU dropped contests against Grand Valley State (25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 26-28, 11-15) and Nova Southeastern (27-25, 17-25, 19-25, 15-25). Senior Irem Bat (Istanbul, Turkey) posted 22 kills and 17 digs combined over the pair of Saturday defeats.
The Penmen are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 18 (7 p.m.) when they take on crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College.
