Southern New Hampshire University baseball enters the Division 2 East Regional II tacked with the second seed, as they will host # 7 Assumption College (26-18) at Penmen Field May 16 at 3:30 pm.

MANCHESTER, NH – Southern New Hampshire University baseball enters the Division 2 East Regional II tacked with the second seed, as they will host # 7 Assumption College (26-18) at Penmen Field May 16 at 3:30 pm. The announcement was made Sunday night by the NCAA. This marks eight straight seasons of punching a ticket into the NCAA tournament.
After a season full of ups and downs, the Penmen (36-12) most recently fell short to Franklin Pierce University May 7 by a score of 3-2 in the Northeast 10 Championship matchup. Graduate student Jake Walkinshaw had an unusual outing on the mound, allowing 8 hits on 3 earned runs and 5 walks. Having never faced the Greyhounds in the postseason before, Southern New Hampshire is up to the task of maintaining strong all around baseball.
As the bracket portrays, the winner between seeds #2 and #7 will face the winner of Long Island University – LIU Post (36-14) and Felician University (30-21), pegged with the 3 and 6 seeds respectively.
Thursday’s two matchups will go back to back (Game 1, 3:30 p.m.; Game 2, 7 p.m. ), then Friday’s schedule will pick up with the winner’s bracket at 12 p.m. followed by the consolation games that are counted as single elimination. Saturday is for the final winner’s game to move forward in the tournament at 12 p.m. (potential Game 7 situation, with games 5 and 6 to follow after the final game).
