MANCHESTER, NH — Prepare to be immersed in all things Lake Wobegon, as renowned storyteller, humorist, and author Garrison Keillor hits the Palace stage April 26 for one night only.

With 28 books, collections of poems and sonnets to his credit, Keillor’s command of the written and spoken word has been captivating audiences and radio listeners for decades. At the heart of his legacy are the tales of growing up in rural Minnesota, and the people of Lake Wobegon that pepper Keillor’s colorful stories.

When not writing his own material, Keillor hosts the most popular radio show on the air: A Prairie Home Companion. For more than 40 years, Keillor’s sultry voice has wafted across national airwaves, with an estimated average of 4 million listeners on 700 different broadcast stations. A Prairie Home Companion has soothed commuters via car radios and transported listeners at home, as they envision the wiry figure of Mrs. Evelyn Lunberg giving brash advice, or the suave stylings of Guy Noir.

Keillor’s voice is so iconic and his style, so inimitable, that he portrayed himself in the 2006 movie adaptation of “A Prairie Home Companion.” Fellow cast members included Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Kline, Maya Rudolph, Lindsay Lohan, and John C. Riley. The film was directed by Robert Altman. Additionally Keillor has won Grammy, ACE, and George Foster Peabody awards and has been honored with the National Humanities Medal, and election to the American Academy of Arts and Letters.

Now it’s the Palace’s turn to hear Garrison Keillor, who will be playing to a Manchester audience for an intimate evening of storytelling and music. Expect to be moved, to laughter and maybe even to sentimental tears.

Reserve your tickets for a one-night stand with Garrison Keillor, April 26 at 7 p.m. today by calling the Palace Theater box officer at 603-668-5588 or visit www.palacetheatre.org. Tickets are $45.50, $55.50, $65.50, and $132.50 (includes VIP reception/meet and greet post show.)
