One charged in morning credit union robbery

MANCHESTER, NH – Within about an hour of robbing a downtown bank, a city man was arrested by Manchester Police in an unusual scenario that may have been a regular transaction gone wrong, police say.

Roger Hicks, 51, was arrested at about 11:05 a.m. at 68 Orange St., first floor and charged with the robbery.

He entered the credit union located at 44 Bridge St. at about 10 a.m. with another man. The bank teller told police Hicks attempted to conduct a banking transaction. For unknown reasons, the transaction may not have gone his way, so he wrote a note and demanded cash. He did leave the bank with an unknown amount of cash, police said correcting an earlier report that no cash was taken.

The second man involved has not formally been charged with the robbery.

Hicks  left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the area. He was quickly identified by bank personnel because he conducts business there regularly.

Police continue to investigate and say a second arrest may be forthcoming.
