No injuries reported following 2-alarm fire on Eastern Avenue
Estimated $10,000 in damage to Eastern Avenue apartment house following fire Monday.
According to a fire department narrative, Engine 10 arrived first and reported smoke showing from the three-story occupied garden style apartment building, with fire extending to the attic area.
Engine 10 performed an aggressive interior attack confining the fire to the apartment of origin. Other companies assisted with clearing the building of occupants and extensive salvage and overhaul. Damage was limited to the third-floor apartment and water damage to the apartment below.
Damage to the building was estimated at $10,000. The building is still habitable with the exception of the two apartments effected by the fire. Cause was determined to be faulty wiring, fire officials said.
