Already a Celtics fan favorite, upcoming prospect Tacko Fall has so far convinced management to keep him around for a little while longer as they signed the former UCF player to a non-guaranteed contract.

What this means is that general manager Danny Ainge needs to be sold on signing him to the next step of the process, a chance for the 23-year-old, who came to the U.S. from Senegal at age 16, to be on the active roster.

A career 74 percent field goal rate during his four-years with Central Florida, Fall’s above-average accuracy under the hoop is an advantage he has used for the longest time. Not to mention he would be the tallest active NBA player if Boston decides to keep him around.

As of right now, the Celtics frontcourt is somewhat depleted of elite size, with former big man Al Horford trekking to Philadelphia on a new four-year deal and forward Marcus Morris also stayed in the Atlantic division, signing with the New York Knicks after a contract dispute with San Antonio eventually led to both sides backing out of the deal.

Fall could make his mark with size we have not seen since the days of former Houston Rocket Yao Ming, who turned out to be an eight-time All Star at 7-foot-6, racking up five All NBA first-team votes to his historic career.

A computer science major at UCF, Fall has one of the brightest minds in the NBA community. He had aspirations of working in companies such as Microsoft. Now with basketball at the forefront, he has a solid cushion to fall back on if he decides to head in a different direction.
