National Summer Learning Week in Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH – The city is celebrating National Summer Learning week with lots of free educational activities, brought to you by Manchester School District. The celebration kicked off July 8 with the official launch of the Bookmobile. Click here for the summer Bookmobile schedule.

July 9 – Discovery Day

Craft Mornings: 10 – 11 a.m. Manchester Public Library

Beauty and The Beast: 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Children’s Summer Series – Palace Theatre $9 per person

Visit the Bookmobile: 10  – 11:30 a.m. Southside Middle School 140 S. Jewett Street Manchester, NH 03103

Living & Working in Space (McAuliffe – Shepard Discovery): 3 p.m. Grades 1 -6 West Manchester Branch Library 76 North Main Street

Stark Park Read – Aloud:  7 p.m. Join Kristine Pelletier for an evening of fun read-alouds at Stark Park 550 River Rd, Manchester, NH 03104


July 10 – Masterpiece Day

Massabesic Audubon Center:  9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Walk the trails and check out the animals.

Parker-Varney: 9 a.m.  Join the Children’s Literacy Foundation and Storyteller Marty Kelley for a FUN and INTERACTIVE storytelling for both children and parents. Every child in attendance will get to choose TWO NEW BOOKS to take home and keep!

Beauty and The Beast: 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Children’s Summer Series – Palace Theatre $9 per person

Visit the Bookmobile: 10:30  – 11:30 a.m.   City Hall  1 City Hall Plaza –  Special Guest Reader – Mayor Craig

Northwest: 11 a.m.  Join the Children’s Literacy Foundation and Storyteller Marty Kelley for a FUN and INTERACTIVE storytelling for both children and parents. Every child in attendance will get to choose TWO NEW BOOKS to take home and keep!

12 p.m. Fisher Cats Read-Aloud with Fungo

Come listen to Mean Jean the Recess Queen at the outdoor stage at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium

July 11 – Future Leaders Day

Currier Museum:  Art Explorers drop in activity – Pop – Art Portraits  11 a.m. – 2 p.m.  included with your Museum Admission Fee, Preschool to 5th Grade

The Bookery Bookstore Storytime:  11:15 a.m.  at  The Bookery Bookstore 848 Elm Street

Currier Museum:  Storytime in the Galleries 12 p.m. (ages 0 – 10) included with your Museum Admission Fee

DIY Metal Etching Teen Event: 3-5 p.m. Manchester Public Library

Lego Night: 5-8 p.m. Manchester Public Library

Trolley Night:  5-8 p.m.  The trolley loops in and around downtown, stopping at arts and cultural institutions, all of which offer free admission for the evening. Among family-friendly trolley stops, visit the SEE Science Center, Studio 550, the Millyard Museum and NH Institute of Art. Most venues have special events and promotions planned specifically for the trolley night.  Free Currier admission

July 12 – Bookworm Day

Barnes and Noble Fundraiser:  9 a.m.-9 p.m.  1741 South Willow Street at portion of each purchase will go to  support Summer Learning in Manchester.

Family Storytime:  10 a.m. West Manchester Branch Library 76 North Main Street

Visit the Bookmobile: 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Piscataquaog River Park 199 Precourt St.

Visit the Bookmobile:  1-2 p.m. Massabesic Lake Park

Science Afternoon: 3 – 4:30 p.m. Science Afternoon Library Main Branch Registration Required

Currier Museum: 150 Ash Street,   Second Saturday Free NH Admission Days.   Free Museum admission for NH residents is available on the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. until noon. NH residents who arrive before noon can stay all day for free! Additional fees for special exhibitions will be charged, even during these hours. Sponsored by The Botnick Family Foundation and E&R Laundry and Dry Cleaners.
