Nashua man in rental car speeds away from Trooper at 120 mph in construction zone

CONCORD, NH – A Nashua man is charged with reckless conduct and resisting arrest after  he sped past other vehicles in the breakdown lane in excess of 120 mph in a construction zone on I-93 in Windham.

On Dec. 10, 2014 at approximately 7:20 a.m. a New Hampshire State Trooper working a construction detail in Windham noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on I-93.  The Trooper caught up with the vehicle several miles south of the Exit 3 area.  He watched the weave around other vehicles as it traveled in both breakdown lanes at speeds in excess of 100 mph.  The Trooper clocked the vehicle at a top speed of 126 mph near the Massachusetts state line.  The Trooper was only behind the vehicle for a short distance prior to approaching the state line, but was able to identify the vehicle as a 2013 Hyundai Sonata (color white) bearing a NH registration.

Due to commuter traffic and the existing weather conditions, the brief pursuit was terminated.  The vehicle was identified as a rental vehicle and the renter was subsequently identified as Frederick Dehner, 41, of Nashua.

Dehner was subsequently located at his Nashua residence and admitted to being involved in the incident.  When informed he was under arrest Dehner attempted to flee on foot, but police caught up with him. He was transported to the State Police Troop B barracks in Bedford where he was charged with the following charges: felony reckless conduct; reckless driving; disobeying an officer and resisting arrest.  Dehner refused the services of a bail commissioner and will be arraigned Dec. 11 in Salem District Court.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to contact Trooper A. P. Monaco at the NH State Police Troop B Barracks at 603-666-3333.
