MLB pitcher Bob Tewksbury to speak at Mental Health Center’s annual Oct. dinner benefit

MLB pitcher Bob Tewksbury will be the featured speaker at this year’s annual Manchester Mental Health Center dinner and awards fundraiser.

MANCHESTER, NH – Former MLB pitcher Bob Tewksbury will be the 2018 featured speaker for The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester’s 19th Annual Dinner and Awards Benefit for Mental Health, to be held at the Derryfield Country Club on Oct. 22. Mental Skills Coach and author of “Ninety Percent Mental,” Tewksbury will share his knowledge of what it takes for individuals or athletes to perform at their highest level.

Tewksbury’s unique professional resume combines an 18-year professional baseball career pitching for six different teams and winning 110 Major League games. He attended St. Leo University where he was drafted by the NY Yankees in 1981. Following his time in New York he then went on to play for Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and the Minnesota Twins. He was also a member of the 1992 National League All-Star team.

After retiring, Tewksbury earned a master’s degree in sport psychology and counseling from Boston University, and is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) currently employed by the San Francisco Giants. His resume includes working with the Boston Red Sox Teams from 2004 – 2013, which included three World Series Championships (2004, 2007, 2013). He currently lives in New Hampshire and has appeared as a commentator for New England Sports Network, and has worked as an adjunct professor in Sport Psychology for NHTI Community College in Concord, as well as Endicott College in Beverly, MA.

Proceeds from the Mental Health dinner benefit will help to provide behavioral health and substance mis-use treatments and services for adults and youth in the community who are in need of care. The event, held at The Derryfield Country Club in Manchester, begins at 5 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person, or you can reserve a table for eight or nine. A brief book sale and signing will be offered following Tewksbury’s presentation.
