Merrimack motorcyclist seriously injured in crash at I-93/293 split

MANCHESTER, NH – On August 19, 2019, at approximately 10 p.m. Troopers from the State Police responded to the report of a serious motorcycle crash on Interstate 93 South in the area between Exit 6 and the I-93/I-293 lower split in the city of Manchester. Troopers responded with Manchester Fire and Medical personnel as well. Upon arrival it was determined that:
Jonathon M. Rogers, 32, of Merrimack had been operating a white 2006 Honda CBR1000R Motorcycle when he lost control and struck the cement barrier separating northbound and southbound traffic. Upon impact, Rogers was ejected from his motorcycle and thrown over this cement barrier where he came to rest in the left shoulder of the northbound travel lanes.
Rogers was transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester with serious injuries. The motorcycle that Rogers was operating remained in the southbound lanes and sustained heavy damage.
Through the initial investigation, it appears that speed was a contributing factor in this crash, however, all aspects remain under investigation. The left travel lane in both directions of I-93 in this area was closed for approximately 1½-hours while the scene was cleared up.
