Now about halfway through their respective winter seasons, many athletes and teams throughout the Queen City are starting to make their pushes toward the postseason, while others are continuing to develop young athletes for future success.
MANCHESTER, NH – Now about halfway through their respective winter seasons, many athletes and teams throughout the Queen City are starting to make their pushes toward the postseason, while others are continuing to develop young athletes for future success. Here’s a glance at some of the recent action:
Boys basketball
Three days after being edged at home to Dover, the Manchester Central boys basketball team made the short trek to Derry and upset defending state champ Pinkerton. Meanwhile, Manchester Memorial nearly handed undefeated Portsmouth its first loss before getting Clipped in the last minute, but Crusaders bounced back with a convincing wind over a strong Windham team four days later. The Manchester Memorial girls basketball team earned its first win of the season with a. 49-42 home victory over Concord on Jan. 14. Avery Jenkins led the charge with 19 points, while Jaelyn Hartford and and Jenavyzia Collazo contributed 10 and 9, respectively.
