MANCHESTER, NH —So much food news this week, NH Wine Week is ready to begin and we have an online list of all the local events, The AFC Championship game is Sunday and local bars and restaurants will have great food and drink deals- check back on Friday for a listing of those deals and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. And, exciting news from the Manchester Food Co-op, congratulations to the Board of Directors and everyone involved.
The Phantom Gourmet recently visited Chez Vachon and named it a “Place Worth Driving to.” Watch the video of the Phantom Gourmet’s visit here. This West side eatery is known for their hearty breakfasts and the Phantom Gourmet loved it. “At Chez Vachon… small portions are not on the menu. In fact, it might even be an understatement to call these portions big.” Congratulations Chez Vachon!

It’s not too early to order your Valentine some chocolate. Van Otis is taking orders for sweets like chocolate dipped wine or champagne ($40), chocolate dipped cherries ($30 for one lb.), and of course, their famous Swiss Fudge (small $10, medium $15 and large $26)
Longing for a Farmers’ Market? There’s a few that remain open during the winter. The Milford Farmers’ Market , 1 Union Square (603-345-0860) is open on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 10 A.M.- 1 P.M., through April. Bedford Fields Garden Center , 331 Rte. 101, will hold a farmers’ Market on January 23, February 13 and February 23 from 10 A.M.- 3 P.M. And in Weare, there’s a Friday Farmers’ Market at the Old Weare Town Hall, 17 North Stark Hwy. (603-491-4203) from 4 -6 P.M.

Looking for something exotic? Finesse Pastries is tempting us with homemade, passion fruit dark chocolates, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Copper Door is hosting a Buffalo Trace whiskey dinner on February 3 at 6 P.M. The four-course dinner is paired with bourbon and whiskey, including two from the Antique Collection. Priced at $95 per person, seating is limited. Reservations or more information here.

Don’t miss this chef’s dinner. On Wednesday, February 3, join Matt Provencher of The Foundry, Jeffrey Paige of Cotton Restaurant, Amy Labelle of Labelle Winery and Bistro, Jayson McCarter and Paul Morrison of the NH Food Bank, and Kevin Walsh of Tapestry, for a five-course dinner paired with wine to benefit The NH Food Bank and NH Farm To School. While Provencher, Paige and Labelle are well known in the New Hampshire food scene, Walsh has been around the foodie block with stints at Earth at Hidden Pond in Kennebunkport, Flour + Water in SF and Deuxave in Boston and the former Baldwin’s on Elm in Manchester and Clio and Radius, both in Boston. Word has it he is opening his own restaurant, Tapestry, in Boston. Tickets for the chef’s dinner are $80.12 per person and available here.
