Police say the public proved instrumental in assisting with the capture of Farnsworth. Once detective’s followed up on several tips, they determined Farnsworth was the person responsible for the botched robbery attempt. A warrant was issued last week and Farnsworth finally turned himself in at police headquarters early Wednesday.

According to police, on May 2 veteran Arthur Kamberis, 95, of Manchester was leaving Walgreens on Valley Street after picking up a prescription when an unknown man approached him as he made his way to the credit union across the street. The assailant grabbed Kamberis by the arm and attempted to steal Kamberis’  wallet. Kamberis fought off the attacker with his cane and thwarted the robbery.

Farnsworth will appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester May 13 at 8:15 a.m.
