Man on the run cornered by K-9, charged with domestic assault, resisting arrest
Thomas Ramirez was stopped with an assist from police dog Moose, after police tried to stop him with pepper spray and a taser.
MANCHESTER, NH – Thomas Ramirez, 22, of Hall Street was arrested July 30, after several officers and a police dog were dispatched to find him after he fled the scene. He faces multiple charges in connection with an alleged domestic assault.
At approximately 11:15 a.m. on Thursday Officers Steve Orr and Charles Anderson responded to a Hall Street residence for a report of a domestic in progress. Upon arrival, the officers heard commotion inside of the apartment and realized a male subject, later identified as Ramirez, allegedly jumped off the second-floor porch to avoid police contact.
Police were informed that Ramirez allegedly assaulted his wife prior to police arrival. Officer Orr notified area units that they were looking for Ramirez, so Sgt. Robert Keating patrolled the area and located Ramirez near Laurel and Beacon streets. Ramirez refused to stop for him and continued to run from the officer.
Multiple units arrived on scene and cornered Ramirez behind 450 Laurel Street. The officers attempted to apprehend him and place him into custody but he refused to comply. Officers used their department-issued pepper spray and taser, but both tools had little to no effect on Ramirez, as he continued to fight with the officers. Officer Benjamin Foster and his K-9 partner Moose arrived on scene and Moose was deployed, ultimately getting Ramirez to surrender to police.
Ramirez is charged with: two counts resisting arrest/detention; simple assault (domestic); false imprisonment (domestic); and criminal threatening (domestic). He appeared in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on July 31 for an arraignment.
