Man charged with murdering parents returns to NH, arraignment set for June 12
A hearing is set for June 12 when Matthew Dion, who waived extradition following his capture last week, will face charges he murdered his parents in March of 2014.
MANCHESTER, NH – New Hampshire Attorney General Joseph A. Foster and Manchester Police Chief Enoch F. Willard announce that Matthew Dion will be arraigned June 12 from a New Hampshire jail by video in the 9th Circuit-District Division Court in Manchester at 10 a.m.
Dion will be arraigned on two counts of second-degree murder, one count of arson, and three counts of possession of child pornography.
The charges stem from an incident where Dion’s adoptive parents, Robert and Constance Dion, were found murdered in their Manchester home, which had been set on fire, on March 24, 2014.
Dion was on the run for about 15 months until he was captured in Florida by U.S. Marshals, “hiding in plain site” working as a handyman at a motel, where he was swapping work for lodging.
Dion waived extradition June 4, telling a Clay County, Florida, judge he wanted to go home to New Hampshire. Assistant Attorney General Strelzin said on Thursday that Dion would be transported to New Hampshire from Florida, where he would stand before a judge Friday via a remote video feed.
