Man charged with early morning assault on Maple Street, gun threat

MANCHESTER, NH – A man was arrested after an early morning assault on Maple Street, while a second subject remains at large and is wanted by police in connection with the incident.

Arrested was Antonio Maddox, 51, of Manchester, charged with burglary, criminal threatening and fugitive from justice. Maddox was wanted out of Michigan on an extraditable warrant for failing to pay child support.

Police responded to 471 Maple St. at about 7:10 a.m.  on Nov. 11 for an alleged assault and criminal threatening in progress. Officers David Labbe and Matthew Blonigen arrived and spoke with three victims. Police were unable to determine what prompted the attack and it is unknown if the victims knew the assailants.

Michael Duval, an alleged victim of the assault, told police he answered his door minutes before police arrived and was immediately attacked by two men. He stated two men began assaulting him with their closed fists. One of his friends, Chris Taylor, 40 of Manchester, came to his aid by attempting to pull the men off of him. However, Taylor  was struck in the leg with a hammer by one of the two alleged assailants, who eventually got away.

Maddox is accused of allegedly threatening Duval’s female friend with a gun.

According to police, Mercedes Tremblay, 20, of Manchester, told police Maddox allegedly pointed a gun at her as Taylor continued fighting with the other intruder. The three victims  – Duval, Taylor and Tremblay – did not sustain serious injuries and refused medical treatment as the officers asked about suspect information.

Maddox returned to the apartment for an unknown reason while police were there, but immediately fled upon seeing a police officer inside of the apartment. Officer Labbe gave chase and apprehended him in the back of the address. He did not have any weapons on him at the time he was arrested. He was taken into custody without incident and charged.

He was scheduled to be arraigned on November 12, 2015 in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester. The second suspect and the weapons were not located, p0lice said.
