Man charged with burglary, graffiti of Central High School after police find his wallet on ground
Police spotted Robert Hartman on a fire escape, and later connected him to the burglary and damage inside the school after finding his wallet outside on the ground.
MANCHESTER, NH – A city man was charged with breaking into Central High School early Monday morning.
Officer William Regan responded to an alarm call at Central High School around 12:05 a.m. on May 14 when he observed a man exiting the school through a fire escape. He flashed a light on the man who immediately retreated inside the school.
The officer located a wallet containing a New Hampshire identification and social security card in front of the Beech Street doors as he searched for entry into the school.
A man then approached Officer Michael Johnson near the school and informed him that he lost his wallet somewhere in the school. The officers told Robert Hartman, 20, of Manchester, that his wallet was located prior to placing him into custody for the burglary.
Inside the school police discovered graffiti inside of the music room as well as several broken screens and bathroom stalls on the lower level of the school. The overall damage to the school is believed to be $600. Hartman is scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on May 14, 2018.
