theatre KAPOW will perform two separate programs of three distinct stories at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

In “The Little Match Girl” by Hans Christian Anderson, a poor young girl has a burning desire to find comfort and happiness in her life. Desperate to keep warm on a very cold New Year’s Eve, the girl lights the matches she sells, and envisions a very different life for herself in the fiery flames.

“The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry is a touching and beautiful story of a young couple unable to afford presents for each other on their first Christmas together. Each sacrifices a treasure to provide a gift for the other but, in so doing, they work at almost tragically funny cross-purposes.

Oscar Wilde’s beloved tale, “The Selfish Giant,” tells the story of the selfish giant who built a wall around his beautiful garden to keep children out. It was always winter in the garden, but a special child brings Spring back, and the giant’s heart melts along with the snow.

Flutist Michelle Koolian

Michelle Koolian, flutist and cellist David L Duhon will perform a variety of holiday classics and welcome everyone to engage in caroling. Michelle Koolian began her musical career as a young child when first introduced to the flute during the fourth grade. She has been playing for 20 years and attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where Michelle studied flute performance under Wendy Rolfe.
