Jeopardy Tournament of Champions recap: How did Kerry Greene do?
Friday night’s Jeopardy Tournament of Champions was a proud moment for Manchester’s Kerry Greene, and her many fans who tuned in to see how she made out on the popular TV game show.
MANCHESTER, NH – Although the big win wasn’t in the stars for Kerry Greene Friday night, making it all the way to the finals and coming in third in the annual “Jeopardy” Tournament of Champions is still kind of a big deal
For her efforts, Greene walks away with bragging rights and a $50,000 consolation prize.
“It was a great experience, and I have no regrets. Alex is truly in a class by himself. And if you look back over past tournaments, I’m in very good company coming in third,” Greene said, after the show aired Friday.
Big winner of the two-day tournament, which aired Nov. 20, was Alex Jacob of Chicago, a former professional poker player who never lost his cool, dominating the game and winning the $250,000 grand prize .
“The most challenging aspect was probably just dealing mentally with the high stakes and the knowledge that I could win the tournament if I played well. The one thing I had going for me is that I’ve played for a lot of money on national TV before,” Jacob said, referring to his 2006 U.S. Poker Championship. “The thing that makes ‘Jeopardy’ different than poker, though, is that there’s always another poker tournament, but you only get one Tournament of Champions.”
Second-place finisher was Matt Jackson, of Washington, D.C., who won $100,000.
Greene, a mother of two who volunteers as a CASA NH guardian ad litem, previously won $146,598 during her six-game qualifying streak which aired back in April, placing her among the top 5 contestants for this season.
