Jacqueline Chretien announces run for State Representative in District 42

MANCHESTER, NH – Jacqueline Chretien of Manchester officially announced her candidacy May 24 for State Representative in District 42 (Manchester Wards 1, 2 and 3 floterial district). Chretien is running alongside fellow Ward 2 resident Matt Wilhelm, and together they hope to bring their fresh perspectives to Concord and serve as true representatives of the neighborhood.

Chretien moved to Manchester with her family at the age of 4 and is an alumna of Manchester public schools (Jewett Street, Southside Junior High, and Memorial High School). She earned a joint BS/MS degree in biology from Brandeis University and a PhD in molecular and cell biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Since moving back home to Manchester in 2011, Chretien has focused much of her energy on raising her young family (Ellie, 7, and twins James and Henry, 5), in addition to working full time as an editor and team manager at academic language editing firm Research Square.

Chretien’s campaign will center on the issues that are critical to New Hampshire’s young people and families, as well as her research background.

“I’m running for State Representative because I believe that there is a great opportunity to do a lot of good for a lot of people at the state level in the coming year, and the people of Manchester deserve thoughtful and honest representatives in Concord. I very much look forward to talking with voters over the coming months to learn more about their concerns, ideas, and dreams for the state and the city,” Chretien says.

“If elected, I will bring my analytical approach to find creative solutions to our most pressing challenges, work to keep and attract young families to New Hampshire, and ensure that state government makes smart, long-term investments in our people and institutions. My greatest hope is that when my children look back on my record in 20 years, they’ll be able to say my votes are still having a positive impact.”
