MANCHESTER, NH – The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) will be hosting a community picnic in Veterans Park on August 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Whether you are a Manchester resident, work in the city, or are just passing through, all community members are invited to step out of their houses and offices during the lunch hour to Picnic in the Park together.

There will be live music, picnic tables and activities. Attendees are welcome to bring a bag lunch or you can purchase lunch from the following food vendors: Ipswich Clambake, Ben & Jerry’s and JD’s Tavern. There will be a free yoga class, from 12 -1 p.m. that is open to all, presented by Yoga Balance. Max from the Manchester Monarchs will also be bringing some fun and games.

This is the third year that GMCC has hosted lunches in the park.

“We are excited that there is one large picnic this year to encourage the business community to step outside, enjoy the park and each-others company,” said Norri Oberlander, of Pembroke Building Luxury Apartments, which are located right next to Veteran’s Park. “It is so encouraging to see the park being used for positive activities and we hope the Downtown employees will utilize the park on their lunch breaks. Parks & Recreation as well as the Manchester Police Department have done such a great job with park improvements in the city.”

“Our vision for this picnic is to encourage everyone in this community to come together and enjoy the park, have some lunch and soak-up the sunshine,” said Michael Skelton, GMCC President. “We want the community to realize just how much potential our city parks have and what great green spaces we have so close by.”

Attendees don’t need to sign up…just show up! For more information contact GMCC Member Communications Manager, Lauren Kannenberg, at laurenk@manchester-chamber.org or 603- 792-4119.
