Inmate serving time for armed robbery walks away from work release assignment
Tyler Best entered the New Hampshire State Prison for Men on January 3, 2017 and was eligible for parole on December 25, 2017.
UPDATE: Tyler Best was returned to the State Prison at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
MANCHESTER, NH – A resident of the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester walked away from the facility on February 20, 2018. The announcement from the Department of Corrections was issued at 4 p.m.
Tyler Best, 39, no specified hometown, left the correctional facility for work at approximately 1 pm. After he arrived at his destination he left the work site without permission.
Best is 5-feet-8-inches tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his left and right forearms, left and right upper arms, right breast, and on his back.
He was sentenced in Belknap County Superior Court to 1 ½ – 5 years for armed robbery with 188 days of time served credited to his sentence. He was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men on January 3, 2017 and was eligible for parole on December 25, 2017. His maximum release date is June 27, 2021.
The New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau and the New Hampshire State Police are investigating. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call their local la enforcement agency or the New Hampshire State Police. Walking away from a correctional facility can result in a charge of escape, which is a Class-B felony punishable by up to 3 ½ – 7 years in prison.
