Husband faces 2nd-degree murder charge in Derry shooting

CONCORD, NH — An autopsy has been completed for Ellen Munstis, 74, who was found deceased in her Derry home on Aug. 10.

New Hampshire Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Christine James has determined the cause of Mrs. Munstis’ death was multiple gunshot wounds.  The manner of her death is homicide.  As used by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, homicide is defined as the killing of one person by another.

In addition, on Monday, August 12, 2019, her husband, Roderick Munstis, 79, was arraigned in Rockingham County Superior Court on alternative counts of knowing and reckless second-degree murder for killing Ellen Munstis.  Mr. Munstis has been held without bail pending trial.

Anyone in the area of 151 Bypass 28 on Friday, August 9, 2019, who may have seen or heard any part of this event is encouraged to call the Derry Police Department Detective Unit at (603) 432-6111.

The charges and allegations are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
