House votes down school voucher bill
On May 2 the House voted 170-159 to take up the House Finance Committee’s recommendation to send the school voucher bill, SB 193, to interim study.
CONCORD, NH — On May 2 the House voted 170-159 to take up the House Finance Committee’s recommendation to send the school voucher bill, SB 193, to interim study.
The controversial bill would have diverted taxpayer dollars away from public schools to unregulated private, religious, and parochial schools. Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig and the Board of Alderman had lobbied against the bill, which would have had a significant impact on the city.
