Hooksett Council votes to launch fundraiser to reinstate police K9 unit

HOOKSETT, NH — Hooksett Police Chief Janet Bouchard announced on April 25 that members of the Hooksett Town Council unanimously voted to reinstate the Police Department’s K-9 Unit.

Councilors also voted in support of the Department’s mission to fund the unit entirely by private donations. Chief Bouchard believes a department K-9 unit is an invaluable asset for the community. She hopes to raise enough funds to not only finance the initial start-up costs for the program, but also to maintain the program through the continued support of donations.

Several area businesses have already offered to donate goods and services.

“The residents and business owners in Hooksett are extremely supportive of their police department and have always been very generous,” Chief Bouchard said.

The fundraising effort has begun.
