Homeowner catches burglar in the act of stealing his binoculars
Burglar surprised by return of homeowner, tackled by family members in the backyard as he tried to escape.
MANCHESTER, NH — Police arrested Keith Olson, 46, of 290 Conant St., Apt. 1, after he was caught burglarizing a Paquette Avenue residence.
Police say the homeowner arrived home with relatives at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 19, and entered the residence, and that his niece was first to notice a strange man, later identified as Olson, inside the home. She screamed, which most likely caught the burglar by surprise, police said, and sent him running for the door.
However he didn’t get far — he was tackled by the homeowner and a nephew in the backyard, and held there until Officer Raymond Lamy arrived and placed him under arrest.
Officer Lamy retrieved several items from Olson, including a pair of the homeowner’s binoculars. Olson was charged with burglary and was scheduled to appear in court on January 20, 2015.
