The Latest PS5 UPDATE:
The PS5 launched in November of 2020. Ever since the console has been harder to come by than the virus cure. Well close enough. Earlier this month online shops restocked up on the console, Best Buy and GameStop respectively. Conversations on gaming forums and Reddit have rumors that more systems will be restocked on our favorite outlets soon (see links above to stay ready!) At this current moment, the PS5 is sold out at all major retail stores but most gamers are staying positive that they will see systems come to town soon. Frustrations in the gaming community are coming mainly from Sony not sharing more concrete plans for restocking in 2021.
It hasn’t been completely dry for consumers though, big retail stores like GameStop, Best Buy and Walmart had systems in Manchester over holiday break but they were GONE by New Year’s Day. Literally that day I called to get an update so I could have the info for this story. So my hope now is that we will see more systems flood the stores now that Christmas is over and tax money season is coming up.
There was some controversy recently around the exclusive PS5 console. A company called ‘SUP3R5‘ came under fire for offering customized PS5’s in the color black (instead of the stock white) and attached to a hefty price tag of $649 – $200 more than the normal price! The company issued a statement on Friday evening saying it was “embarrassed” with how the North American launch went, with some customers reporting that they were charged for their orders without actually receiving confirmation that they’d secured a console.
Why can’t you see the statement?
Just hours after that message, the company announced it was cancelling all orders and issuing refunds due to its team allegedly receiving “credible threats to their safety.” I wonder what the threats were? Hard to find out because..SUP3R5 has now deleted its Twitter account entirely.
