MANCHESTER, NH – The 17th Annual Elliot Health System Gala was held Sept. 28, 2018 at the Manchester Downtown Hotel to benefit the construction of a new, $29M Elliot Regional Cancer Center. The site of the new facility, expected to open in 2020, will be on the main Elliot Hospital campus allowing patients to receive comprehensive cancer services all in one location.
“It is undeniable the importance that our cancer program plays in the community and in our families, said Dr. Brian Knab, Elliot Regional Cancer Center’s Medical Director. “I always compare a strong cancer program to an insurance policy. No one ever expects to be given a life-altering cancer diagnosis. But if it happens, you want to know that they very best resources, people, and technology are there for you and your loved ones, right in your community.”
The sold-out Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation event drew nearly 450 guests and exceeded its fundraising goal by grossing over $509,000, an all-time Elliot event fundraising record. The “Under the Sea” themed fundraiser had the generous support of more than 50 major sponsors. The Signature Sponsor of the event was the Elliot Hospital Associates. Presenting Sponsors were BOND, Hoertdoerfer Dentistry, Pearl Manor Fund and Turkish Airlines. Underwriting support was provided by Bernstein Shur. The Platinum Sponsors were Amoskeag Anesthesia, Central Paper, Comport Healthcare Solutions, EPIC, Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, New England PET Imaging, Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network, nThrive, and Radiation Oncology Associates, P.A. The evening included a treasure, thanks to our Diamond Sponsor, Bellman Jewelers, which generously donated a custom-made topaz and diamond necklace valued at over $25,000, and was won by a lucky event guest. The event also featured over 60 live and silent auction items donated by local businesses and individuals.

“This outpouring of philanthropic support highlights our community’s passion and support of Elliot’s vision for comprehensive cancer services and programs under one roof. It shows the depth of understanding for the needs of cancer patients to be treated close to home while receiving world class, compassionate, and high quality care. ‘Hope is Here’ at the new Elliot Regional Cancer Center,” said James J. Tenn Jr., Esq., Chair of the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation.
Funds raised from the evening will support the building and opening of the expanded Elliot Regional Cancer Center, serving patients and their families across Southern New Hampshire. With this generous support, Elliot Health System’s Regional Cancer Program will increase access and expand local services for those in our community facing cancer.
