MANCHESTER, NH – Officers looking for a suspicious pair seen trying to get inside unlocked vehicles early Monday morning followed the evidence – in this case, two sets of footprints in the snow, which led them to two juveniles hiding in a vestibule.
According to a police narrative, on January 29, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to Country Club Drive for a report of two males who appeared to be trying to steal a car.
The caller told police the pair were wearing all black and were cleaning the snow off the car and getting inside. At one point, the two went to another car and checked to see if it was unlocked before going back to the first car.
Arriving officers located a blue Hyundai Elantra in the parking lot with the passenger door slightly open and the snow brushed off. Officers observed fresh footprints in the snow that led to a nearby building. There they found two juveniles in the vestibule. Through the investigation, police were able to identify the juveniles as the people seen inside the Hyundai.
The two will be charged with criminal mischief and theft by unauthorized taking (attempted).
