Fire at South Willow Street auto body shop causes $100K in damage

Fire in an auto-paiting booth spread to the roof. No injuries reported.

Fire at South Willow Street auto body shop causes $100K in damage
Manchester Fire responded to 8050 South Willow Street for smoke in the building at an auto body painting facility on March 15, 2024. Crews arrived at about 12:45 p.m. and had a smoke condition in the building and called for a working fire bringing additional apparatus and hose lines to be set up for water supply. Preliminarily fire was reported in spray booths, and then updated information was relayed that the fire may have got into the duct work. MFD Truck 7 set up to gain access to the roof and checked for extension of the fire. The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes, and Manchester Fire Investigators are working on determining the cause and origin of the fire. AMR was at the scene but at this time there are no known injuries to civilians or firefighters. Narrative of Incident

Manchester Fire was dispatched at 12:44 p.m. for a possible fire in a building. Engine 3 arrived on scene at 12:50 p.m. and reported smoke showing and confirmed a building fire. All companies immediately went into rescue mode to ensure everyone was out of the building. Simultaneously companies began fire extinguishment of a spray paint booth in the rear of the building. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down it was reported the fire had extended into the roof of the building. Trucks 1  and 7 began operations to quickly extinguish and ventilate any fire that had extended into the roof of the building. The fire was brought under control at 1:10 p.m.

Special Circumstances: Any and all industrial buildings present specific hazards for firefighters from hazardous material inside to the lightweight construction of the building.
