Families in Transition  New Horizons recently hired Chris Wellington to be its Director of Housing Development & Operations.

MANCHESTER, NH Families in Transition  New Horizons recently hired Chris Wellington to be its Director of Housing Development & Operations. In this role, he will oversee the real estate development and management activities of housing development. In addition, will supervise and train the real estate development and management staff.

The goal of the position is to assist in to ending homelessness by building affordable rental housing with wraparound supportive services necessary to help residents reintegrate into the community, increase independence, and achieve long-term stability. The organization currently owns over 20 properties with nearly 250 housing units.

Wellington’s comes to FIT-NH most recently as the Business Development/Project Management Officer of the Capital Regional Development Council. Prior to that, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Grafton Regional Development Corporation in Plymouth. He has nearly 10 years of experience that spans economic development, project financing, and management. He earned Bachelors and Master’s Degrees from University of New Hampshire.

“With Chris’ knowledge of creative financing and relationships with the community at large, along with his interest in our mission, he’ll hit the ground running,” said Maureen Beauregard, President of FIT-NH. “The shortage of housing for people with little-to-no income and affordable housing is large and our intent is to grow our housing in order to help meet the need.”

Families in Transition – New Horizons is a nonprofit organization that provides hunger relief, emergency shelter, safe affordable housing, and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless or in need, enabling them to gain self-sufficiency and respect. FIT-NH also owns and operates OutFITters Thrift Store in Manchester, which serves as economic engine to help pay for services that FIT-NH provides.
