Eversource employee recognized for going ‘above and beyond’ to assist elderly customer

The Eversource Customer Service Excellence Award recognizes employees for going above and beyond their usual scope of work to provide superior customer service.

Eversource employee recognized for going ‘above and beyond’ to assist elderly customer

MANCHESTER, NH – When Eversource Supervisor of Electric Field Operations Ron Houle learned an elderly customer with a heart condition did not have an alternative place to stay during a scheduled power outage, he sprang into action. Ron contacted the customer immediately and assured him he would personally check in before, during, and after the hour-long scheduled power outage to make sure he was comfortable. And that’s exactly what he did – Houle visited the customer at his home three times to provide assistance.

“To me, this is just a part of what we do every day,” Houle said. “The customer I visited lives in a remote area, so it was reassuring to him to have that personal contact and to put a face to the company. When I checked in the final time, after power was restored, he was extremely grateful. I’m honored to receive this award, but it’s the interactions with our customers that makes my job so rewarding.”Houle started his career with Eversource reading meters in Nashua after moving to New Hampshire in 1992. He then served as a lineworker for 12 years in the Hooksett and Rochester areas before being promoted to supervisor at the Epping Area Work Center in 2016. Ron lives in Manchester with his wife, Dawn, daughter, Madison, and son, Mason.“Ron’s actions show that he cares for each and every one of our customers, and that he really understands that customers count on us to deliver reliable power,” said Eversource New Hampshire Manager of Regional Operations Karl Douglas, who nominated Ron for the award. “We’re there for our customers when they need us.”The Eversource Customer Service Excellence Award recognizes employees for going above and beyond their usual scope of work to provide superior customer service. In honor of Houle’s exceptional service, Eversource will make a contribution to the Manchester Animal Shelter, where Mason is preparing to complete his Eagle Scout service project.
