BEDFORD, NH – Elliot Health System is the latest business, and first healthcare organization to join NH Life Sciences, a trade association focused on advocating for, and growing, the life sciences industry in the state.
The addition of Manchester-based Elliot “opens additional opportunities for collaboration and partnership between industry and providers caring for patients at the bedside,” NHLS said in a news release.
“We are delighted to welcome Elliot Health System into our membership,” said Andrea Hechavarria, NHLS president and CEO. “As NHLS continues to advance life sciences across the state, members like Elliot Health System will play a critical part in showcasing how the latest in medical innovation is improving the lives of patients in New Hampshire communities.”
Elliot Health Systems joins the 23 companies that became members of NHLS in 2024.
NHLS was formed in 2023 as the industry continues to grow in the state. More than 600 businesses in five sectors comprise the state’s life science industry, which contributes an estimated $3 billion to the state’s gross regional product annual. Sectors are medical device manufacturing, medical equipment/supplies, research and development, pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing, and medical and diagnostic laboratories.
“As the most comprehensive nonprofit healthcare system in southern New Hampshire with the busiest emergency department in the state — caring for more than 55,000 patients annually — the Elliot is on the leading edge of advancing patient care in New Hampshire,” NHLS said in the release.
“The Elliot mission to ‘Inspire Wellness, Heal our Patients, and Serve with Compassion in Every Interaction,’ is driven through innovation and bringing state-of-the-art care to our community that is bolstered by dedicated staff serving the complex healthcare needs of our patients,” said Kelli Rafferty, executive director of philanthropy and community benefit for Elliot Health System and SolutionHealth. “We will focus our membership in NHLS on sharing stories of direct patient care, driving innovation, and being part of groundbreaking transformation that improves the well-being of people in New Hampshire. We continually pioneer community healthcare and NHLS is pioneering the robust life science industry for all.”
Elliot Health System is the largest provider of comprehensive healthcare services in Southern New Hampshire, including 296-bed Elliot Hospital.
